Everyone knows the when you travel across the world, you’re probably going to be a bit more tired than normal, and we prepared by reading up on how to thwart jet lag. As a result, we planned to wake up early and whip open the drapes to let the sunlight in and reset our circadian clocks.
So, according to plan, day 2 in South Korea started in our elegant hotel room with a view of a gorgeous sunrise over a very inviting Songdo Central Park. The morning was spent relaxing, drinking coffee, locating the travel cards our friend, Yoojin had picked up for us, and checking in on our social media.
Hunger will drive you to take action even when you want to be a sloth, and we were hungry, so we started our day’s activities with a pleasant walk along Central Park to the Lotte Mart where we picked up food and a bunch of other goodies. After a snack lunch, we caught the Incheon “Ho Ho” bus (hop on hop off bus) and made a quick touristy troll around the city, stopping at Wolmi Park and Chinatown before hustling ourselves back to get ready for dinner out with our friends, Yoojin and Song E at a nearby shopping center.
The shopping center was huge, but the vibes were nice and there were fun art pieces and entertaining store windows. We enjoyed a delicious chicken cats dinner at a small cafe and then some shopping happened. Well, I did a lot of shopping because we found a place like a giant Korean 99 cent store. And there was a Staples filled with BT21 bits and pieces that were suitcase friendly.
On the way back we stopped at the coffee house across from our hotel for an evening treat and a commemorative photo.
All in all, it was a very pleasant and enjoyable day in spite of a little jet lag. Songdo is a place I’d love to spend more time in.
