On February 4th, the Korean MMA (Military Manpower Administration) announced that Seungri had been sent a draft notice informing him of his mandatory military service enlistment. The MMA is withholding information on his enlistment date and what army unit he will become a part of to protect his privacy.
The MMA stated that with the conclusion of the investigations into Seungri’s involvement in several criminal activities, his enlistment will no longer be postponed, as extended civilian trials could interfere with his ability to fulfill his required military duty.
Seungri was indicted without detention on January 30th for repeated gambling, violation of the Foreign Exchange Transactions Act, and mediating prostitution. The military will assume jurisdiction over Seungri’s trials, though they will be cooperating with the prosecution to conduct the trials fairly and with consideration of recent rulings by civilian courts in related cases.
