Eating always comes first in Korea and we aimed to follow that tradition closely, so we started out our day at Namyang Susan Seafood where we had a tasty family-style lunch with fresh-from-the-ocean seafood. I discovered I like octopus a lot, whelks not so much. But Abalone was the star of the day. It’s TDF, for real, SO good! My mouth is remembering it now…

The afternoon was spent at Hallim Park, a large and impressive park with so many things to enjoy! There were caves, dol hareubang statues, a bonsai garden with some seriously old bonsai trees in it, an aviary, beautiful grounds to wander through, and a “historic” village to give you the feel of how people used to live on Jeju.

Stacked rocks at Haedong Yonggungsa Temple.

As the sun started to move downward, we realized we didn’t want to miss the sunset. What better place to enjoy one than the charming Sunset Cliff Cafe?  Sunset, friendship and coffee at Sunset Cliff were followed by a visit to Cafe Aewol Monsant, once owned by Korean idol, GDragon.

We had fun taking pictures and enjoying more treats at Cafe Aewon Monsant, after which we played like children next door in a space filled with twinkly lights.

For dinner, we headed to Jeju Dongmun Market, which was a blast, filled with lots of vendors trying to outdo each other’s flashy flame cooking. The takeaway meal we put together at Dongmun Market was the perfect topper to a pretty perfect day!

*Note – The only thing that made our day out even more perfect, was that Youngbae and Daesung of BigBang were released from the military that day, and we were so happy and excited to know that BigBang might return to the stage soon.
