Our final day in South Korea had arrived, and though we were packed up and ready to go, we weren’t done having fun yet! There was just a bit more exploring time before our flight, so Yoojin picked us up and drove us to Eunpyeong Hanok Village at the foothills of Bukhansan, the highest mountain in Seoul. Eunpyeong Hanok Village was built to help preserve traditional Korean building styles as well as culture. The village even has some homes where you can stay to experience a traditional hanok for yourself.

We got a lovely view of Eunpyeong Hanok from the top floor of a nearby restaurant, 1in1jan (11).  1in1jan is a five-floor restaurant and coffee cafe with amazing views on every floor, each of which we checked out as we made our way upstairs.

After bit of chilly picture taking  we came back inside where it was warm and comfortable for a beautifully created and plated meal in a traditional setting. What a delicious memory!

Excellent food and conversation were followed by a short walk around part of Eunpyeong Hanok Village. I marveled at how beautiful and clean and perfect everything looked. Plus, everywhere I turned I saw something that was absolutely charming! My favorite photo subjects were the horangi (tiger) set into the wall of one of the homes and the Hanok that had persimmons drying from a balcony.

Our time at Eunpyeong Hanok Village and 1in1jan was so pleasant we didn’t want to leave. Unfortunately, the day was disappearing and we couldn’t drag our feet any longer, so we said farewell to Yeon Ah and headed to the airport for final hugs and goodbyes with Yoojin and our flight home to California.

We were so happy to have spent such a wonderful time exploring Korea with Yoojin, Song E and Yeon Ah. Korea is a vibrant and beautiful country with wonderful people. I hope that it won’t be too long before we can safely travel again, because I want more!
